Visualisation of clogging in green infrastructure growing media

چکیده
Growing media in green infrastructure (GI) designed for stormwater management plays a critical role providing hydrological benefits. However, sediment deposition by urban can cause clogging and reduce the infiltration capacity. This study introduces new approach to characterise impact of GI that uses fluorescent tracer particles. Results are compared two contrasting growing media: Grey Green Substrate (G2G) Marie Curie (MCS). showed most particles were retained on surface both media, G2G caused decrease Sediment vertical movement was observed but travelled deeper MCS. Vertical is influenced media’s pore size distribution, high risk expected with distribution close particle incoming

Spatial planning for multifunctional green infrastructure: Growing resilience in Detroit
Cities are expanding green infrastructure to enhance resilience and ecosystem services. Although green infrastructure is promoted for its multifunctionality, projects are typically sited based on a particular benefit, such as stormwater abatement, rather than a suite of socio-economic and environmental benefits. This stems in part from the lack of stakeholder-informed, city-scale approaches to ...
متن کاملEvaluation of the Growth and Thermodynamic Properties of Frankenia on Different Growing Media in an External Green Wall
Currently, the idea of integrating nature and buildings through green roofs and green walls has been considered as a sustainable strategy in cities. However, studies on the substrates which allow the plants to fully establish in these systems are still lacking. It is also a challenge to find the substrates which provide the plants with proper growth, nutrition, and environmental sustainabilit...
متن کاملEvaluating the environmental performance of the growing media in a green wall system in a dry climate region
Application of green walls still has not attracted interest among the contractors and people, and this can be due to poor growing performance of the plants on these systems. This study investigated the effect of four growing media types (30% cocopeat + 65% perlite + 5% vermicompost, 30% soil + 65% perlite + 5% vermicompost, 30% mushroom compost + 65% perlite + 5% vermicompost and regular soil a...
متن کاملUse of Palm Waste Cellulose as a Substitute for Common Growing Media in Aglaonema Growing
In order to evaluate the possibility use of palm waste cellulose as a substitute substrate for growing pot plants, an experiment was conducted in completely randomized block design with 6 replication and six treatments on Aglaonema sp. The treatments were 5 levels including 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 palm celluloid wastes mixed with different rates of some amendments such as peat, coconut coir, perl...
متن کاملMaking green infrastructure healthier infrastructure
Increasing urban green and blue structure is often pointed out to be critical for sustainable development and climate change adaptation, which has led to the rapid expansion of greening activities in cities throughout the world. This process is likely to have a direct impact on the citizens' quality of life and public health. However, alongside numerous benefits, green and blue infrastructure a...
